This maisonette on the Buiten Kadijken is located in a historic spot, on the site of the former brewery “De Gekroonde Valk”. The Buiten Kadijken in Amsterdam is a historic area known for its distinctive architecture. The Buiten Kadijken is located on Kadijkeneiland, also known as the Kadijken area, and is a historic and charming part of Amsterdam. The Kadijken were completed in 1663, incorporating land outside the dikes on the eastern side of Amsterdam into the city. The area is situated in the eastern part of the inner city and is part of the larger area known as the Plantage neighborhood. The architecture of the apartments on the Buiten Kadijken reflects a mix of historical charm and modern influences. The building features a traditional two-tone brick facade with concrete elements, typical of the historic buildings in the Buiten Kadijken. Notable features include the curved concrete roof and the masonry work. The bricks give the building a timeless and robust appearance. The apartment complex, designed by Griffioen Architecten, is located on the site of the former brewery ‘De Gekroonde Valk’ and was built in 1992/1993.
