Design vision
Originally, the building at Jacob Obrechtstraat 3 was constructed around 1900. At that time, it housed two families, one in the upper house and one in the lower house, while the basement was primarily used for coal storage. In 1998, a new plan was created to renew the foundation and install an elevator. In 2002, the floors were divided into four apartments, and the basement was made suitable for storage and bicycle parking. In 2003, a permit was granted for a large rooftop terrace along with a rooftop house.
The current layout of the apartment still reflects the original design, but the owner has made continuous improvements since purchasing the property in 2008. Notable upgrades include the quality of the flooring, the window seating, the kitchen, the bathroom, access to the rooftop terrace, the office in the rooftop extension, and the rooftop garden. The beautiful shutters at the front and the designer staircase add a touch of luxury and international flair.
Living and cooking
The tasteful kitchen is openly connected to the living area, which is divided into a sitting room and a space for a large dining table. The adjacent bar in the kitchen is also a delightful spot in the house. The kitchen is equipped with modern built-in appliances.
Sleeping and bathing
At the rear of the apartment are two bedrooms. The master bedroom has a sliding door to the terrace and offers ample space for a dresser and has a built-in wardrobe. The second bedroom is ideal as a guest room or a quiet home office. The spacious bathroom features a bathtub, a walk-in shower, and a sink.
