BOLD
BOLD is a distinctive and leading building in the field of sustainability and urban renewal. From the apartment, the old city literally lies at your feet. Stunning views, comfort, and sustainability come together beautifully in this building. Given the current developments in the housing market, where a good energy label is becoming increasingly important, it is special to be able to sell a ‘state-of-the-art’ apartment after many older homes. If you have further interest, I would like to invite you to visit. Of course, I will then tell you more about the apartment. Hopefully, see you soon.

Design Vision
In 2021, the design by VORM, in collaboration with OZ Architects, was built and named ‘BOLD’. The name of the building refers to typographic accentuation where bold letterforms contrast with the surrounding text. BOLD also stands for boldness and courage, individuality, speaking out for what you stand for, and the willingness to take risks. This is reflected in BOLD’s facade of solar panels, a striking statement in the neighborhood. Characteristic of the BOLD design is the technical appearance combined with the warmth of wooden niches with transparent parapets that create the outdoor spaces. The wooden elements are also visible from below, at street level. The entire roof area of the building was not large enough to generate sufficient energy for the building’s needs. Therefore, additional solar panels are installed on the facade. These solar panels are not merely attached; they form part of the facade itself, serving as an integral design element rather than an addition. The deep reveals create relief and shadow effects. Contrasting materials and the rhythm of the facade contribute to vibrant color variations that change depending on the sun, time of day, and viewing angle.
Sustainability
Sustainability was central to the design of BOLD. The goal was to achieve a negative EPC of -0.1209, resulting in an A+++ energy label, sustainability discount on your mortgage, and low operational costs. This has all been realized behind BOLD’s facade, which hides an ingenious and energy-efficient climate system. In addition to solar energy, heat and cold from the ground via heat pumps (WKO) provide hot tap water and cooling for the apartments. Even the heat from the draining shower water is utilized. Additionally, heat is recovered from the ventilation air using heat recovery units (WTW). As mentioned earlier, solar panels are integrated into the facades, windows, and roof. These panels supply electricity to the apartments and central facilities. All equipment for heating, cooling, ventilation, hot water, and sustainable energy is rented from NextNRG for approximately € 229,66 per month (including maintenance).
Living and cooking
“Living in a living painting” could be the slogan for this home. The large windows in the living room, which stretch from floor to ceiling and are almost 5.5 meters wide, offer a stunning view of the city center. With the changing seasons and the view over the IJ, the scenery is different every day. The view from the 21st floor will never get old. It’s a very pleasant space to spend time in. The sleekly plastered ceilings and the luxurious Poggenpohl kitchen complete the ambiance in the apartment. Luxury and experience come together here. The kitchen with an island is equipped with various built-in appliances, such as a Bora cooktop, dishwasher, Quooker, Miele steam oven, and fridge/freezer combination. The entire home features a high-quality laminate floor in a herringbone pattern. The spacious entrance hall provides access to the guest toilet, the internal storage room, the second (smaller) bathroom, and the master bedroom. The living room gives access to the other two bedrooms.
Comfort
The building comprises 151 apartments, spread across 24 floors, ranging from approximately 49 to 167 m², as well as several larger penthouses. Luxury, comfort, and amenities are central themes in BOLD. The luxury of BOLD is immediately apparent upon entering, with an elegant wall featuring mailboxes, Bringme boxes, and a concierge. However, BOLD offers even more comfort to enhance daily living. On the third through fifth floors, there are amenities including a professional gym with a sauna and shower facilities, and a cinema/theater room with a retractable stage and kitchenette. Additionally, there are separate rooms with climate-controlled wine cabinets, and three luxuriously equipped guest rooms are available.
Sleeping and bathing
The master bedroom is accessible via the hallway and is very spacious. The bedroom is comfortable and offers ample space for a king-size bed and a wardrobe wall. Additionally, this bedroom features a luxurious en-suite bathroom, which is equipped with a bathtub, wall-hung toilet, walk-in shower, designer radiator, and double sink unit. The two other bedrooms are accessible from the living room, are somewhat smaller, and can be used multifunctionally, such as guest rooms, offices, or children’s rooms. The second bathroom, accessible via the hallway, includes a walk-in shower, sink unit, and designer radiator.
The balcony
Enjoying the sun outside is perfect here. The terrace, approximately 9 m² in size, faces the sunny south and is accessible from one of the bedrooms and the living room. The enclosed location ensures that you can enjoy a spectacular view from the 21st floor early in the year, with unobstructed views of the city center. It’s a wonderful place to relax and momentarily forget the hustle and bustle of the city.
The storage room
Not every apartment in BOLD originally came with its own separate storage room. It was possible to purchase an additional storage room for an extra cost. The storage room is located in the basement (-1) of the building and is accessible via the lift and/or stairs. The room is approximately 20 m² in size and is equipped with electricity. The separate storage room is offered separately for € 50,000, plus costs.
