Over de Amstel 3
There are locations in Amsterdam that are beautifully central, like this address, De Eerste Oosterparkstraat 3 III. The location between two parks and along the Amstel river is particularly special to me. The current owners are ready for a new chapter and are leaving the city with a heavy heart. The home they’re leaving behind boasts many desirable features, such as the light and the sensational view from the living room overlooking the Amstel. With three bedrooms and a large rooftop terrace, it’s a highly sought-after property. It’s fascinating to see that the home has its own unique twist and exudes a distinct atmosphere. I’m also very curious to see who the new owner will be.

The building
The block dates back to the early nineteenth century, a period during which many neoclassical buildings were erected. This block is characterized by typical decorative layers and flower balconies at the front. However, it’s noteworthy that this apartment doesn’t have a balcony but instead features a bay window. In 2008, the entire building underwent a renovation, during which the foundation was renewed and the building was divided into condominiums. During this division, a residence was created on the third floor and a bedroom in the attic. Additionally, there was a large attic space belonging to the apartment, accessible from the common staircase. This attic was later incorporated into the apartment and converted into the master bedroom. The municipality granted a permit for this modification. The street is named after the Oosterpark, the first large park (12.6 hectares) established by the municipality in 1891.
Living and cooking
Upon entering this bright upper apartment, you’ll find a spacious hallway that provides access to various rooms. The study, living room, and staircase are all reachable from here. Next to the elegant staircase is a guest toilet, convenient for visitors. The living room, facing south, is bathed in natural light thanks to the large windows. Here, you can enjoy a beautiful view and watch the weather. The kitchen is tastefully placed and finished in a stylish gray high-gloss design. Equipped with a built-in fridge-freezer, a four-burner gas stove with oven, and a stainless steel sink with mixer tap. The efficient layout provides ample storage space. In the center of the room stands a spacious dining table, suitable for a party of six. The bay window in which the table partly sits offers a stunning view over the Amstel – an ideal spot for dining. The lounge area is generous and accommodates a corner sofa and a comfortable armchair. This floor features a beautiful oak floor that balances the space. The room at the quiet rear of the property has its own balcony, a long work surface, and ample space for a spacious closet. A delightful space to work or use as a third bedroom. Under the stairs is the guest toilet, featuring a creative sink and matching faucet. The walls are neatly finished with white tiles and a ‘taupe’ painted rear wall.
Bedrooms and bathroom
The open staircase on the ground floor leads to the top floor of the apartment, where two rooms and a bathroom can be found. The bathroom is equipped with a tidy sink, a walk-in shower, and features an original terrazzo floor – a subtle nod to the history of the property. The children’s room is painted in cheerful and lively colors and offers ample space. The master bedroom exudes spaciousness as the loft has been opened up, creating a generous height. The arched window offers a beautiful view over the rooftops of the Weesperzijde and the Amstel. Custom-made built-in closets provide ample storage space, and there’s even an emergency door providing access to the staircase. Also on this floor, the oak floor is a striking element that gives the space a warm ambiance.

Here, residents can relax and bask in the warmth and expansive views early in the spring. This is the place where luxury and comfort come together in harmony. The study boasts a balcony of approximately 1 sqm, where the morning sun shines beautifully inside. Opening the door to this balcony creates a serene atmosphere in the room.
