City Chic
Years ago, I lived for a while on Waalstraat, a wonderfully wide and quiet street in the Rivierenbuurt. In recent years, the municipality has upgraded the street, adding wide sidewalks and plenty of space for bicycles. The generous width of the street also brings extra light into the living area of this stylish apartment, located on the first floor.
The home has been recently repainted, the floors have been sanded and oiled, and the kitchen has received a significant upgrade. The apartment is completely ready for its new owner. The layout is optimal, with an open kitchen and two bedrooms at the rear.
The perfect, charming, and contemporary city apartment in the vibrant Rivierenbuurt!

Design vision
The Rivierenbuurt is part of Plan Zuid and was built in the 1920s and 1930s. The urban development plan was designed by architect H.P. Berlage, with much of the architecture featuring the distinctive Amsterdam School style. Renowned architects like Margaret Staal-Kropholler, Michel de Klerk, and Piet Kramer contributed to the creation of these buildings.
The 1930s elements are still visible in this well-maintained apartment, such as the stained glass sliding door in the living room and the paneled doors.
Sleeping and bathing
The apartment features two bedrooms, both located at the rear. One of the bedrooms is currently used as an office but would also make an excellent children’s room. Both rooms have French doors leading to the balcony.
The bathroom is stylishly finished in a black-and-white color scheme and offers a spacious walk-in shower, a vanity unit, and space for a washer and dryer. The toilet is separate and designed in the same elegant colors as the bathroom.
